Acne Solutions - Top 3 Acne Treatment Systems

By

What Causes Acne?

Being a long time acne sufferer, I have tried many treatment systems over the years. Some products claimed extraordinary cleansing power, but most did not deliver any noticeable results.  A few products were true to their claims, and I will concentrate on those.  Every acne treatment system has its benefits and negatives.  You need to choose one that will work the best for your skin type. You can do this by getting a system with the ingredients that will work best for your skin. Everybody has a different skin type, some oily, some dry, so choosing the right treatment will not only clear up your skin, but make your skin look more radiant and beautiful.  Choosing the wrong one can leave you with red itchy dry skin, or even worse, acne.

To choose the right treatment for your skin type, it is important to know what is causing your acne so you can fight it at the source. The most common cause of acne is sebum. Sebum is an oily secretion that comes from the sebaceous glands in your skin. The sebaceous glands are usually located near hair follicles and secrete sebum to help keep your skin moist.  These glands can go into overdrive during puberty, causing acne. Since each individual will have more or less sebum, and therefore different levels of oily skin, you need to choose products that contain the right amount of chemicals and natural ingredients to control the correct amount of sebum. To get the most beautiful skin, you should also choose products that exfoliate, and moisturize your specific skin type. The next step is to learn what chemicals and natural ingredients can do to help cure your acne.

Acne Solution Chemical Ingredients

  • Benzoyl Peroxide is a very popular chemical treatment for acne. It was developed in the 1920’s by Revlon. Benzoyl Peroxide kills bacteria in a similar way to hydrogen peroxide.
  • Salicylic Acid is a chemical exfoliant. It works to unclog skin pores to help prevent acne.
  • Glycolic Acid penetrates skin very well and is often used as a chemical peel.
  • Sulfur dries the skin, removing sebum.
  • Azelaic Acid helps clean out pores and kills acne causing bacteria.

Acne Solutions Natural Extract Ingredients

  • Green Tea helps regulates the amount of sebum on your skin.  It is often used as a natural substitute for Benzoyl peroxide.
  • Tea Tree Oil reduces inflammation and is a natural acne bacteria killer.
  • Allantoin is a moisturizer used in many cosmetics and naturally stimulates healthy skin.
  • Licorice Root helps even skin tone using its anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Olive Leaf is a natural antibacterial compound that kills acne bacteria.

Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Complete Acne Therapy System uses all of the dermatologist recommended acne medicines to create a complete acme treatment.  The major chemical components of the system are benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and glycolic acid. The Skin polishing acne cleanser uses salicylic acid as its active ingredient.  The Sun shield day lotion protects your face from the harmful rays of the sun.  The overnight acne control lotion uses a timed released benzoyl peroxide formula to keep your skin acne free overnight.  The system’s use of micro beads help exfoliate clogged pores help keep the skin calm and smooth with the additional use of complex natural botanical compounds.  The use of these ingredients helps this system stop the acne cycle in its tracks, helping you have clear, healthy skin.

2 - AcneFree Severe Acne Treatment System

The AcneFree Severe Acne Treatment System is a four part system.  You use all four of the products twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.  The first product is the Antibacterial cleaning wash.  This uses a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide and retinol formula to exfoliate your skin and clean out your skin’s pores, killing acne causing bacteria.  The second step is the corrective toner.  This normalizes the function of your skin helping you have clear, radiant skin.  The third step is the maximum strength repair lotion that uses a timed release 10% benzoyl peroxide formula to help fight bacteria all day and night.  The fourth and final step is the retinal renewal complex.  This oil free lotion helps your skin heal from the damage of acne.  This system stops the acne cycle, leaving you with clear acne free skin.

3 - Proactiv

Proactiv is a unique treatment for acne.  There are several different solutions and lotions in the complete system.  The renewing cleanser’s main ingredient is benzoyl peroxide.  This solution gently exfoliates the skin using micro beads, removing dead skin cells while preparing the skin for the revitalizing toner.  The toner hydrates the skin natural botanicals without the use of alcohol which can dry your skin out.  The repairing lotion also uses benzoyl peroxide in a creamy lotion that won’t irritate or dry you skin.  Finally an oil-free moisturizer hydrates and protects your skin with SPF 15.  Depending on your skin type you can use the Deep Cleansing Wash for extremely oily skin.  It works on your entire body.  The refining mask contains sulfur to help naturally and gently prevent further acne outbreaks.  As with all acne systems it is advisable to always wear sunscreen as they can increase your sensitivity to getting sunburn.

Choosing a System

As I stated before, each system will work differently with your skin.  I would recommend you try each of these systems to find out what one works best with your skin type.  There are several options to purchase these systems in trial sizes.
